You've Walked Into a Gym Before

Most leave you to figure it out alone.
Or try to break you before you're ready.

TOS does neither. Here, a Hall of Fame champion meets you exactly where you are, and a roomful of people make sure you keep coming back. The hard part isn't the work. It's walking through the door. Do that, and we've got the rest.

DaVarryl Williamson

"Touch of Sleep"
Heavyweight · 6′4″ · 220 lbs · 80″ reach

He's been where you are, and a lot further. DaVarryl came up from a hard start in Washington, D.C. and turned it into a right hand so feared that Ring Magazine called him the hardest puncher in the world. A former pro heavyweight, he fought for the IBF World Title and rose all the way to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, alongside names like John Elway and Peyton Manning.

But ask him, and the gym matters more than the trophies. It shows in the work: in 2021 alone he sent nine boxers to the Colorado Golden Gloves, and six came home champions. Whatever you're chasing, he knows the way.

Meet the Coaches

Led by a Hall of Fame champion and a deep bench who know the work. Every TOS coach is USA Boxing certified, SafeSport-trained, and background-screened, so you and your kids are in expert, accountable hands.

One TOS tradition: nobody sticks around long without a nickname from DaVarryl. He names everyone, and the names tend to stick.

An Official USA Boxing Club Registered and sanctioned. Every coach is USA Boxing certified and SafeSport-trained.

Coach DaVarryl Williamson
“Touch of Sleep”

DaVarryl Williamson

Founder & Head Coach
His coaching philosophy is simple, sharp, and hard-won: adapt to the boxer in front of you, stay relaxed, and hit the target until the target is no longer there.

A Hall of Fame champion who could coast on his name, DaVarryl would rather be on the floor, working hands-on with every athlete who walks through the door. He meets each boxer exactly where they are, from a nervous first-timer learning how to stand to a professional fighter chasing a title. The same eye that built Golden Gloves champions will sweat the details of someone’s very first jab.

DaVarryl’s coaching is rooted in discipline, precision, and presence. He studies each boxer’s rhythm, strengths, habits, and instincts, then builds from what is already there. His goal is not just to teach technique, but to help every athlete become sharper, calmer, more confident, and more dangerous in their own way.

His favorite boxer is Muhammad Ali, not only for Ali’s style, speed, and brilliance in the ring, but for what Ali represented as a Black man and for everything he gave to boxing, culture, and the world.

Around the gym, DaVarryl answers to a full collection of names: Commander, DarVey, DJ for that Dangerous Jab, and, of course, Touch of Sleep. Handing out nicknames is its own TOS tradition, and the man who started it has earned more than a few of his own.

Coach Jennifer Williamson
“J-Lo”

Jennifer Williamson

Coach · Nutrition & Wellness
Jennifer leads TOS Boxing’s whole-person approach to athlete wellness, supporting competitors, non-competitive athletes, and the families who help sustain them. As a PhD(c) in psychological science, Jennifer brings a research-based lens to coaching, wellness, nutrition, and behavior change. Her work focuses on helping athletes understand not only what their bodies need, but also how mindset, stress, discipline, and daily habits shape long-term performance.

Jennifer specializes in nutrition coaching for boxers moving through training, camp, and tournament preparation, helping competitors make weight safely and strategically. Her approach emphasizes education, consistency, and health rather than extreme restriction. She also works with non-competitive athletes who want to build strength, improve wellness, develop healthier routines, and feel more confident in their bodies.

At TOS, Jennifer is known for connecting the science of wellness with the lived reality of athletes and families. She understands that performance is never just physical. It is emotional, relational, and psychological. Her coaching helps athletes fuel properly, train intelligently, recover effectively, and build sustainable habits inside and outside the gym.

Her favorite boxer is her husband, DaVarryl “Touch of Sleep” Williamson, and, of course, that knockout punch.

Coach Paul Adams
“Paul Newman”

Paul Adams

Coach · Fundamentals & Beginners
The nickname is pure DaVarryl: the day they met, Paul rolled up in his Maserati, and DaVarryl’s mind went straight to Paul Newman in The Color of Money. It stuck. Paul has been in the sport since 1996, when he started under former Egyptian National Team coach Magdy while living in Saudi Arabia, later training with Brazilian Federation coaches and joining TOS in 2011, having known DaVarryl’s name for years from reading The Ring. He loves working with beginners, youth, and charity-event fighters, perfecting the basics, building toward a bout with progressive training, and growing real confidence and mental fortitude in everyone he coaches. His philosophy: discipline, commitment, and attention to detail are the keys to success at any level, in and out of the ring. His favorite boxer is Joe Calzaghe, always underrated, and retired undefeated.
USA Boxing Bronze-Level Coach
One step better, smarter, faster, and tougher after every session.
Coach Eric Elkins
“Maserati Red”

Eric Elkins

Coach · Fundamentals & Conditioning
A former amateur and another OG of the corner, Eric met DaVarryl at 17 and got his start at the gym’s first home, a tortilla factory in downtown Denver. Twenty years later he’s a fundamentals man: rock-solid defense and offense built on real conditioning. His favorite boxer? Emanuel Augustus, the showman who made flawless basics look effortless and turned every round into a clinic.
USA Boxing Green-Level Coach
Coach Luigi Griego
“Rocky”

Luigi Griego

Coach · Fundamentals
A 2021 Colorado State and regional Golden Gloves heavyweight champion, Luigi has called TOS home since 2016. He’s a fundamentals specialist in striking, footwork, and defense, equally at home starting a complete beginner or sharpening a seasoned boxer. His favorites are Mike Tyson and Vasyl Lomachenko: two masters of the basics who turned flawless fundamentals into pure dominance.
USA Boxing Green-Level Coach
Coach Jadale Keller
“Lil Baby”

Jadale Keller

Coach · Technique & Ring IQ
Northern California-born and hooked on boxing since he was eight, Jadale is the newest face in the TOS corner and already blends right in. He coaches the thinking side of the sport: technique, ring smarts, and reading a fight under pressure. Fittingly, his favorite is fellow NorCal native Andre Ward, all ring IQ and ice-cold composure when it counts. Above all, he wants every boxer to walk away knowing he has real passion for their progression and growth.
USA Boxing Green-Level Coach
Coach Mateo Mayorga

Mateo Mayorga

Coach · Team Translator
Mateo is the voice in the corner for every Spanish-speaking boxer at TOS, repeating each instruction in real time so nobody misses a beat of the coaching. He joined the gym in April after earning his USA Boxing certificate. He’s never competed himself, but his job is to make sure language never holds a boxer back, so every cue and correction reaches the Spanish-speaking athletes exactly as the head coach gives it.

Coach Cesar Peñaloza
“Say Say”

Cesar Peñaloza

Coach · Defense, Technique & Ring IQ
A former amateur boxer, Cesar has been with TOS and DaVarryl since he was 17, bringing 20+ years in the ring and a craftsman’s eye for the details. He specializes in the flyweight and featherweight ranks, and lives for the subtle art of defense: footwork, angles, and the science of not getting hit. His favorite boxer? Floyd Mayweather, for exactly that reason: land, and don’t get touched.

Coach Richard Washington
“Sweet Black”

Richard Washington

Coach · Fundamentals
Richard has known DaVarryl for 23 years and took home the Colorado Golden Gloves title in 2005. He’s a fundamentals man through and through, because the basics stay with you for life, even as you age with the sport. His favorite boxer is Sugar Ray Leonard.
